BRIDGE STREET DINER NAMED MONTGOMERY COUNTY’S
SMALL BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
St. Johnsville Diner Has Become Staple In Community With Its Terrific, Homemade Food
FONDA – The Bridge Street Diner opened in 2020, and while that certainly wasn’t the best time for a restaurant to keep the doors open, let alone thrive and grow, owners Christine and Greg Bentley’s persistence and hard work have made this spot a must-stop in St. Johnsville.
Bridge Street Diner has been selected as Montgomery County’s Small Business of the Month by County Executive Peter Vroman and the Montgomery County Business Development Center because of its terrific food, its tremendous atmosphere, and its priority on community engagement.
“The Bridge Street Diner is quintessential Americana,” County Executive Peter Vroman said. “There is great, homemade food and the environment is one where everyone is welcome. These are the types of places located throughout Montgomery County that give that small-town feel but provide a big-time service.”
Bridge Street Diner opened in March 2020, just five days prior to covid restrictions being announced, which turned their restaurant into take-out only. While that made things more challenging, it didn’t stop the Bentleys from getting creative to make things work. Christine started making cakes and other desserts, learning how to decorate all their tasty treats online, to help spur business along.
“People enter our establishment as customers, sit around a table with some good food, great conversation, and leave as friends,” Christine Bentley said. “We do our very best to stay involved in the community and give back whenever we can. The support we get from the people of Saint Johnsville, and the surrounding area, has been phenomenal. We look forward to being here for many years to come.
Bridge Street Diner has also quickly made sure that they are part of the community. The Bentleys have jumped at the chance to be part of many of the events in and around St. Johnsville. Bridge Street Diner has been part of countywide events as well, such as Montgomery County Restaurant Week and the Montgomery County Kayak-A-Thon, where they had breakfast available for the kayakers participating in the Erie Canal paddle.
“In a relatively short time, the Bridge Street Diner has become a place that everyone knows and enjoys,” Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Ken Rose said. “Local restaurants are very important to the economy because they provide job opportunities and generate economic benefits for the community. The food is fantastic, and the Bentleys are a great family.”
Bridge Street Diner is located at 10 Bridge Street, in St. Johnsville. They are open from Wednesday-Monday (closed Tuesdays) from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. Make sure you follow Bridge Street Diner on Facebook for their Daily Specials Board. Make sure to check out the Bridge Street Diner, with portions so big, it’s your own fault if you leave hungry.
