Latest National, Name-Brand Retailer Begins Local Operations With First Delivery Received To Amsterdam Distribution Center

AMSTERDAM — Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Ken Rose released the following statement in response to Dollar General’s 750,000 sq. ft. distribution center receiving its first shipment of product yesterday (Monday, Oct. 21). The national retailer is in the process of ramping up its new $91 million Montgomery County distribution center located in the Florida Business Park Extension, in Amsterdam. The facility will ultimately employ more than 400 workers.

“Congratulations to the whole team at Dollar General on the arrival of their first truckload of product. It’s an exciting day for the company, our community and the whole region. Dollar General is a tremendous addition to our economy and the arrival of product to this new facility means hundreds of people will soon be on the job in our area. Dollar General’s investment in Montgomery County is just the latest example of businesses, government officials like County Executive Ossenfort and communities working together to create real opportunity here. That cooperative relationship is the reason Montgomery County is working.”
