Family-Run Bavarian-Style Brewery In Nelliston Seeing Continued Growth
FONDA — Eisenadler Brauhaus just recently celebrated its second anniversary. Jodie and Jessica Rodriquez opened Montgomery County’s first brewery, back in August 2021, with a specialization and focus on Bavarian-style beers. The inspiration for the brewery’s name and theme come from the family’s German roots. Eisenadler means iron eagle in German.
Jodie Rodriquez and Jessica Rodriguez, mother and daughter, first met with county officials in 2018, with the goal of opening a microbrewery, which would be the first in the county. The pair worked with staff from the Montgomery County Business Development Center on the submission of a Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) in 2018, which was awarded by New York State Empire State Development.
“Eisenadler Brauhaus has become a great addition to the business community,” Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Ken Rose said. “The local craft breweries have really become key economic drivers and they certainly have a positive effect on the local economy.”
Once Jodie and Jessica had their business plan together, they presented their idea and applied for funding through the county’s Revolving Loan Fund. The County Legislature and the Industrial Development Agency (IDA) approved a loan to Eisenadler Brauhaus to purchase equipment, including the fermentation tanks needed for their microbrewery.
“Eisenadler Brauhaus is a tremendous local craft brewery,” County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. “It is a great establishment. The building is fantastic and I give a lot of credit to the Rodriquez family for what they’ve been able to build. It’s a great addition to Montgomery County.”
