HIGHWHEELER COFFEE NAMED MONTGOMERY COUNTY’S
SEPTEMBER SMALL BUSINESS OF THE MONTH
Specialty Coffee Shop In Fort Plain Has Become A Go-To Destination

FONDA – Highwheeler Coffee opened its doors in 2018, and instantly ingrained itself as part of the Fort Plain and Montgomery County community. With its community-inspired open mic nights or trivia nights and the selection of fresh fare and pastries, in addition to the star of the show — specialty coffee — Highwheeler has quickly become a go-to destination.

Highwheeler Coffee has been selected as Montgomery County’s September Small Business of the Month by County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort and the Montgomery County Business Development Center because of the high-quality products they serve and big impact they’ve made on the community.

“Highwheeler Coffee has rapidly become one of the best spots in the area,” County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. “They use great, fresh, and, in some cases, local ingredients where they can. Their social media posts are full of their terrific menu items, which makes you want to stop in and try their newest creations.”

Highwheeler Coffee intends to create community around an appreciation for hand-crafted coffee and tea beverages served in a comfortable and inviting space. Co-owners Rebecca Winters and Aaron Katovitch see coffee as a craft beverage and hold an interest in its production along every stage of its life cycle from farmer to barista to produce a quality beverage.

Winters and Katovitch love the community interaction that owning their store brings, when they are able to serve quality coffee and food to people and bring them together.

“It has been a pleasure to be among a new wave of businesses opening in Montgomery County,” Winters said. “The support and momentum we’ve seen from the community is exciting.”

Highwheeler Coffee gets its name from early versions of the bicycle, which featured a large front wheel and small real wheel, which can be seen in its logo. This is also in homage to the Erie Canalway Trail, used by bicyclists in the warmer months, and is a tourism driver in downtown Fort Plain. Highwheeler also uses the highest quality ingredients and produces high quality items.

“Highwheeler Coffee really has created an atmosphere that is driven by owners Rebecca and Aaron but involves the local community,” Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Ken Rose said. “It is more than just a coffee shop or a restaurant, it is an upscale café. Everything that Highwheeler produces is of the highest quality and it shows.”

Highwheeler Coffee is located at 84 Canal Street, in Fort Plain. You can contact them by phone at (518) 620-0828, email highwheelercoffee@gmail.com or visit their website at https://highwheelercoffeeshop.com. You can also follow Highwheeler Coffee on Facebook and Instagram @Highwheelercoffee.
