MONTGOMERY COUNTY SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR MICROENTERPRISE GRANT PROGRAM
Grants Range Between $5,000 and $35,000 per Applicant
(FONDA, NY) – Area small businesses looking to grow their operations in Montgomery County could soon receive much-needed support.
The Montgomery County Microenterprise Grant Program, administered by the Montgomery County Business Development Center (MCBDC), is now accepting applications from businesses with five or fewer employees.
“Running a small business can be challenging because owners often fill many roles. Having access to funding sources that can help you grow your operations or upgrade equipment can be boon for entrepreneurs. The Montgomery County Microenterprise Grant Program has helped a number of area employers create jobs and grow their operations, and I’m sure this latest round of funding will have a positive impact on our community,” said MCBDC CEO Ken Rose.
Applications for the Microenterprise Grant Program are being accepted on a rolling basis from small businesses across the county, including those within the City of Amsterdam, no later than Monday January 15, 2024. Program applicants must be new or existing commercial enterprises with five or fewer employees, one or more of which must be the principal(s) and own the enterprise at the time of application. Complete details including eligibility guidelines and necessary documentation can be found at https://montgomerycountyworks.com/planning-services/.
“I strongly encourage small businesses across the county to contact our office and complete the application process. This is a great program and I know it can help many local employers,” Rose said.
Businesses previously funded through the Microenterprise Grant Program include Merv’s Auto Repair and Honorone Farm, which each received a grant of $35,000 during the 2022 round of funding. Since 2018 Montgomery County has assisted county businesses in securing more than $700,000 in grant funding through the program, creating a number of jobs.
Anyone with questions or concerns about the program should contact Vinnie Nicosia or Karl Gustafson at (518) 853-8334.
