GRANT GUIDELINES & APPLICATION
FONDA– Home to a wealth of historic sites, outdoor recreation opportunities and other tourism destinations, Montgomery County has a well-earned reputation for having something for everyone. Efforts to attract more people to the county’s communities will now be getting a boost through the 2020 Montgomery County Local Tourism Grant Program, announced today by the Montgomery County Business Development Center.
The Local Tourism Grant Program provides projects, events and individuals with additional financial resources to help attract tourists (non-resident participants) to explore and enjoy all Montgomery County has to offer.
“The Local Tourism Grant Program is a terrific way to help organizations extend the reach of events they are planning so they will attract more visitors to Montgomery County. That’s a powerful way to help ensure our local economy continues to thrive,” County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. “Our county is full of historic landmarks, Main Street shops and restaurants, and is the ultimate playground for year-round outdoor recreational activities. This program helps highlight all of these wonderful things to do.”
The Montgomery County Local Tourism Grant Program is funded by the County’s Hotel Occupancy Tax and is administered by the Department of Economic Development & Planning.
“Tourism is major priority in Montgomery County in 2020,” said Legislator Robert Purtell, Chair of Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee. “We encourage all local organizations to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for funding that can help improve their events and our community as a whole.”
“Montgomery County, under the direction of the county’s Business Development Center and the County Executive’s Office, continues to be aggressive in securing funding for programs, projects, events and individuals that will attract more tourists to our county. Their efforts are appreciated,” said Legislative Chairman Joseph M. Isabel.
Use of grants provided through the program is restricted and funding may not be used solely to serve residents. The Local Tourism Grant Program is open to all non-profit and for-profit organizations, clubs, individuals, groups, individual businesses and business consortiums in Montgomery County.
