DVR Portable Restrooms Named Montgomery County Small Business of the Month
Fonda, NY — The Montgomery County Business Development Center (MCBDC) is proud to recognize DVR Portable Restrooms, LLC. as its Small Business of the Month, highlighting a locally owned company that has experienced significant growth while building a reputation for dependable service and strong community involvement.
DVR Portable Restrooms was established in 2023 and grew its operation through the acquisition of Adirondack Septic’s portable restroom division, which included approximately 150 portable toilets, restroom trailers, handwashing stations and an existing customer base. A year later, in 2024, DVR also acquired and bought out Dejong Septic in Broadalbin. Since then, the company has continued to expand its presence throughout the region, providing portable sanitation services for construction sites, special events, businesses and community activities.
Today, DVR offers a range of portable sanitation options, including standard and ADA-accessible portable restrooms, handwashing solutions and restroom trailers. While still a relatively young small business, DVR has established itself as a local provider capable of serving everything from community events to major construction projects.
One example of that growth can be seen close to home. DVR was selected to provide services in connection with the construction of the new Amazon facility in the Town of Florida, giving a locally owned small business an opportunity to participate in one of the largest private development projects in Montgomery County’s history.
“One of the greatest benefits of attracting major investment to Montgomery County is the opportunity it creates beyond the jobs inside the facility itself,” said Montgomery County Executive Pete Vroman. “DVR Portable Restrooms is a great example of that. Here you have one of our smaller local companies doing business with one of the largest companies in the world. That’s exactly the type of ripple effect we want to see when we bring projects like Amazon to Montgomery County. It means contracts for local businesses, money circulating through our local economy and opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow alongside the County.”
DVR’s involvement with the Amazon project demonstrates the broader economic impact that large-scale development can have on a community. Construction and operation of major facilities create demand for contractors, suppliers, service companies and other businesses—allowing locally owned companies to compete for new opportunities generated by investment in Montgomery County.
“Small businesses are an essential part of our economic development strategy, and DVR’s story shows why,” said Ken Rose, Director of the Montgomery County Business Development Center. “They took an opportunity to establish a business, grew their operation and have demonstrated that a small local company can successfully provide services on a project of Amazon’s scale. When we talk about the economic impact of attracting hundreds of millions of dollars in private
investment, this is part of what we’re talking about. We want those projects to create opportunities for existing Montgomery County businesses and help them grow.”
Beyond commercial projects, DVR has remained active within the communities it serves. The company has supported local events and organizations, including sponsorship at Fonda Speedway and the Amsterdam Mohawks, while providing services for events and community facilities throughout the area.
The company’s continued growth reflects the entrepreneurial spirit that drives Montgomery County’s small-business community. From servicing local events and worksites to supporting one of the County’s largest economic development projects, DVR has demonstrated how locally owned businesses can grow by combining responsive service with a willingness to take on new opportunities.
Owner Danny Varin said the recognition reflects the support the company has received since starting the business. “We are extremely proud of how far DVR has come in a relatively short period of time. Being a local business means a lot to us, and we’ve always tried to provide dependable services while supporting the communities that support us. Having the opportunity to work on a project, the size of Amazon right here in Montgomery County has been a tremendous experience for our company and shows that small businesses can play an important role in major projects. We’re grateful to our customers, employees and community for helping us continue to grow.”
The small business of the month initiative recognizes local Montgomery County businesses that are making a difference in the community. Anyone wishing to nominate a deserving small business for recognition next month should contact the Montgomery County Business Development Center at 518-853-8334 or email vnicosia@montgomerycountyny.gov with a brief note about the positive impact the company is making on the community.
