Food Is A Passion, Perfection Is The Goal For This Amsterdam Bakery.

FONDA – Rosito’s Bakery was born when Diana and Leo Rosito turned their mutual love for food and their passion and skills in food preparation into a thriving locally owned and family operated business, in Amsterdam.

Rosito’s Bakery is located on James Street in Amsterdam, but the inspiration began abroad. Leo Rosito was born in Italy and grew up in Guatemala, where his mother ran her own bakery, which would sell to local hotels and businesses. Leo learned everything he could about baking and running a business. When he moved to the United States, he met Diana, who had been taking many decorative baking courses and their passions melded perfectly, resulting in the beginning of Rosito’s Bakery.

Rosito’s Bakery has been selected as Montgomery County’s March Small Business of the Month by County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort and the Montgomery County Business Development Center because of their three decades of operating a successful small business in the county.

“Rosito’s Bakery is extremely successful and a place that blends food and culture to provide a real feel for the local community,” County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort said. “Their homemade baked pastries are great and their continued expansion of menu items makes them a must-stop when you are nearby.”

Leo and Diana opened their first bakery in Montgomery County, in Canajoharie, in 1993, prior to moving to their current location on James Street, in 1997. March is Women’s History Month, celebrating the vital role that women play in American history, and with Leo now partially retired, Diana runs the operation at Rosito’s Bakery.

Rosito’s Bakery was nominated for this recognition because every cake they create is a work of art and becomes the centerpiece of whatever occasion it was ordered for. Their breads and pastries are also some of the best around. Rosito’s is also offering a growing grocery section, offering Spanish goods to area residents who look for comfort items from their hometowns and only have to walk down the street to find them.

“We love food, so why wouldn’t we make it to perfection each and every time?” Diana Rosito said. “Whether you are looking for a sweet snack to take home for later, a savory sandwich on the go, or a beautiful cake for your once-in-a-lifetime event, Rosito’s has you covered.”

Rosito’s not only serves pastries, but also features a full deli. Their professional cake artists can make any specialty cake for your next event. The food and desserts at Rosito’s are all made daily, using the freshest ingredients. Rosito’s spent many years perfecting its menu and recipes to not only taste great, but to be affordable.

“The baking industry continues to thrive and Rosito’s is a great example of a successful, local, community bakery,” Montgomery County Business Development Center CEO Ken Rose said. “The economic impact of small retail bakeries is significant across the country and that’s no different here, in Montgomery County. Nationwide, many bakeries have 10 or fewer employees, but generate billions in direct wages and revenue.”

Rosito’s Bakery is located at 37 James Street, in Amsterdam, and open Tuesday-Sunday. You can contact them by phone at (518) 842-2616 or visit their website www.rositosbakerydeli.com. They are also on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RositosBakery1.
